6-7, 239 lbs, Holmes, 11.4 MPG, 7.1 PPG
6-7, 224 lbs, Bond, 15.4 MPG, 3.4 PPG
6-1, 185 lbs, Gibbs, 7.5 MPG, 2.6 PPG

Lose:
6-10, 245 lbs, Chapman, 21.9 MPG, 7.4 PPG
6-7, 241 lbs, Wangmene, 21.5 MPG, 4.6 PPG

Add:
5-11, 180 lbs, Felix
6-10, 230 lbs, Ibeh
6-9, 215 lbs, Lammert
6-7, 200 lbs, Papapetrou
6-10, 245 lbs, Ridley

From my observation the biggest area of concern for our team this year was size. Outside of Chapman we really did not have anybody with significant size inside that could consistently rebound and block shots. The other area of concern was depth. When Wangmene went out that really hurt.

What I really like about the 2012 class is that Barnes is finally going after size again. And since this is basketball, size does matter. With the addtion of Ridley and Ibeh, the horns will have 2 guys nearly as big as Chapman and with a larger upside. Then you add in Lammert at 6-9 and we can finally have at least 2 guys on the court over 6-9 at the same time.

Now we don't know if J'Covan is coming back and signs indicate that he could be leaving. If that happens Texas loses its top scorer, its senior leader, best FT shooter, and best 3 point shooter. Without him, Texas will bring back 41.8 PPG including its PG and assist leader Kabongo. If Myck leaves, then Texas is really in trouble losing its top scorer and top assist maker.

IMO, Texas can lose Brown and still be a good team. They will have fixed their depth and their size issues from this past season. However, if Texas loses both Brown and Kabongo then their depth and experience will be an issue again and they will have to start rebuilding again at the PG position.

Next season looks promising but it could all depend on Kabongo's decision.

Might as well get the snippets on the other new players. Very optimistic reads as the strengths are part of the preview.

Ridley -
This true center has continued to improve at a steady rate and played extremely well at the Adidas Nations in August against big time post competition. He is more explosive and mobile because he seems to be in better shape and his hands are like suction cups. He pounds the ...

Javan Felix has a winner's edge, competitor's motor and intrinsict feel for the game of basketball. He owns the DNA of a point guard. He's apt to get it off the glass -- he's a good board man for a guard -- and pitch it ahead to start a ...

The left-handed Lammert has a soft shooting touch out to the 3-point line and a high basketball IQ. In addition, he has bounce and runs very well in transition. He could be deadly in a high-low offensive set due to the aforementioned shooting touch and innate passing ability.

Papepetrou -
Native of Greece and regarded overseas as a member of 94 class meaning he's in the appropriate grade in the U.S. for his age. He's the owner of a physically strong body. Scouts got to see him in the spring of 2011 as a member of Nike Team Florida. ...

With Chapman and Wangmene graduating and Brown and Kabongo leaving early, Texas loses 260 of its 426 turnovers.
Ratio wise Chapman and Wangmene were miserably low fractional and Brown (1.41) and Kabongo (1.7:1) were mediocre.

Let's hope the next set of guards is smarter with the ball and that the frontliners develop some hands.

That is an area that certainly can be improved. Team ratio is 419:426. Have to think Kabongo will improve going into a 2nd year. I don't know that it is known that he is leaving yet.
