6-1, 197 lbs, Brown, 35.6 MPG, 20.1 PPG, 130 assists
6-4, 200 lbs, McClellan, 25.9 MPG, 11.3 PPG
6-1, 169 lbs, Kabongo, 30.6 MPG, 9.6 PPG, 176 assists
6-3, 190 lbs, Lewis, 25.5 MPG, 7.8 PPG
6-7, 239 lbs, Holmes, 11.4 MPG, 7.1 PPG
6-7, 224 lbs, Bond, 15.4 MPG, 3.4 PPG
6-1, 185 lbs, Gibbs, 7.5 MPG, 2.6 PPG
Lose:
6-10, 245 lbs, Chapman, 21.9 MPG, 7.4 PPG
6-7, 241 lbs, Wangmene, 21.5 MPG, 4.6 PPG
Add:
5-11, 180 lbs, Felix
6-10, 230 lbs, Ibeh
6-9, 215 lbs, Lammert
6-7, 200 lbs, Papapetrou
6-10, 245 lbs, Ridley
From my observation the biggest area of concern for our team this year was size. Outside of Chapman we really did not have anybody with significant size inside that could consistently rebound and block shots. The other area of concern was depth. When Wangmene went out that really hurt.
What I really like about the 2012 class is that Barnes is finally going after size again. And since this is basketball, size does matter. With the addtion of Ridley and Ibeh, the horns will have 2 guys nearly as big as Chapman and with a larger upside. Then you add in Lammert at 6-9 and we can finally have at least 2 guys on the court over 6-9 at the same time.
Now we don't know if J'Covan is coming back and signs indicate that he could be leaving. If that happens Texas loses its top scorer, its senior leader, best FT shooter, and best 3 point shooter. Without him, Texas will bring back 41.8 PPG including its PG and assist leader Kabongo. If Myck leaves, then Texas is really in trouble losing its top scorer and top assist maker.
IMO, Texas can lose Brown and still be a good team. They will have fixed their depth and their size issues from this past season. However, if Texas loses both Brown and Kabongo then their depth and experience will be an issue again and they will have to start rebuilding again at the PG position.
Next season looks promising but it could all depend on Kabongo's decision.
