Even with Hooker on the floor during the 2009 season it seemed to me that Faucette was the emotional leader of the team. The role was certainly hers in 2010. For those of you who know the team well who do you think will fill that role in 2011?

I think many would say Rachel adams, as the returning All American, and she showed high spurts of emotion on the court many times this season. However for me, and I don't know who else can see this same vision, I see Hannah Allison working her way into that role. Her competitiveness and "gamer" mentality is remarkable, and I think she has the persona to be a real sparkplug for this team when the going gets tough

In my mind, leadership next year is going to have to come from Sha'Dare. If we stay healthy or reasonably healthy, all indications are that we'll be in a 6-2. Two of the above mentioned players, Rachael & Hannah, will only be on the floor for half the rotations. Sha'Dare will be a junior and will be on the floor all 6 rotations as she & Palmer will anchor the passing and defense. If Kat is a 6 rotation player I would expect she'll lead as much as a freshman can but I wouldn't say Destinee led much during her freshman year but she did provide a lot of emotion. I expect Kat and Palmer to provide emotion. For calming influence and steady leadership I'm looking to Sha'Dare.

Last year I thought Destinee brought unbelievable energy and enthusiasm, and so did Juliann, but Ashley Engle appeared to be the strongest leader on the team. She gave a lot of direction to the team. Heather Kisner provided a lot of quiet, role model-type leadership.

There were lots of examples of Ashely's commanding presence. One time I remember when she was playing on a hurt ankle, and limping, she looked over at Elliott and told him very pointedly, "Don't take me out!"

This year Juliann was the leader, no doubt.

Next year I expect Rachael to step up her leadership to the senior level. Sha'Dare will provide the same type of quieter leadership that Heather did. Kat Bell will bring Destinee-type energy, and appears to be very confident and poised, but as a freshman, don't think she'll be the alpha dog.

I think we'll see a lot from Hannah Allison too, especially if she wins the starting spot again. She's athletic, competitive as all get out, and gutsy as heck. I said before that Rachael is the new Destinee; I also think Hannah is the new Ashley. She was on her way there when she got hurt.

Given the spirit and quality of the individuals on the team, we'll have plenty of leadership.

Leadership comes in many forms and fashions. It wouldn't surprise me if the team voted Sr. Michelle Kocher and Soph. Hannah Allison as team captains.

Mooo, that would be fitting, given how good a job both Michelle and Hannah did this year sharing the setting role.

Do the players vote? Or do the coaches select the captains?
