Texas is in her top 7 per Hoopgurlz...

"Nation's No. 11 prospect in 2010 is down to seven
Ronika Ransford, the No. 11 prospect in the nation, is down to a final seven, she told ESPN HoopGurlz in a text message.

Ransford's final seven includes Cal, Duke, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Rutgers and Texas. The explosive Washington, D.C., star said she does not yet have an order of preference.

The 5-foot-6 point guard is No. 4 in the country at her position."

Don't forget that Cassie Peoples is coming in 2011,another PG, about the same height 5-6 to 5-7. I think all can play SG although PG is probably their number one position. Really would like to see a Henson or Chiney along with Moore to complete this class. I don't see a PG as a need although it is good to hear that we are among her top 7. It's good to see Texas mentioned among the top recruits. And there is certainly room for 5-7 recruits in this class.

I have no problem going after Ransford as every guard brings different skills to the table. Heson is class of 2011, so other than Chiney, I haven't seen any mention of other front court players we are recruiting; I hope there are some others . . .

Guards, guards...bring 'em! Seems that we need more wings/SG, but Coach G knows what she needs and wants for competition in the Big 12.

If we can stay on Ransford's radar, that's a great thing, and says a lot for recruiting. I'm impressed!!!

Highly ranked or not, I think that she would have trouble getting a lot of playing time at PG based on what I've seen from Font. It is hard to imagine a freshman coming in and taking over after Font has logged two years under coach G's system. But maybe she is that good and would immediately take over.

Unlikely Ransford will come to Texas. Remember, Peoples is a stud in 2011.

On the other hand, you may see a player like Tiffany Moore in tihs class. Also, Chelsea Bass is getting some nice publicity over at Hoopgurlz.

For those of you who don't remember, Gail made it to the 1999 Final Four with two Purdue transfers but with a lot of under the radar players (Georgia Schweitzer, Peppi Browne, etc.). Schweitzer wasn't even a top 100 kid whom Gail turned into a two-time ACC POTY.

Best wishes to Ronika.

It's always fun to see us considered by a highly ranked prospect, but really we seem well set at point guard. It looks like AT may be moving to the pg spot. I liked what I saw of Yvonne last year. Then we have Peoples in 2011.

And don't forget Lauren Flores starting this year.

I would say we got PG covered for a few seasons.
