2009 Texas Baseball: Prove It.

Agreed.

I'm glad to hear Augie and the players saying this. I think the last few years the players just assumed they would make it to Omaha. I remember talking to Kyle Russell after the first series last year, we had just swept VCU and Kyle said that we were definetley going to Omaha. I don't think we swept another weekend series until Aggie. Being confident is one thing, but I think we had gotten cocky. We, fans included, took going to the CWS for granted and the results showed on the field. With three dissapointing years (by Texas standards), that shouldn't be a problem anymore. I look for a renewed sense of purpose and focus from this year's team. I think that is even more the case with Augie's recent problems. But talk is cheap, prove it on the field!

Not believing in jinxes, let me point out that i was driving to work today thinking, wouldn't it be fitting [and ALLSOME] within the "overcoming adversity" philosophy if this team decided it had something to prove in the wake of DWI-gate and came out swinging like pit-fighters, setting the tone early in a season that would culminate with the national championship?

Stranger things have happened....

I don't think they need to prove anything. They just need to go out and play good baseball all season long. The rest will take care of itself.

I would like it if the horns made it to Omaha for the 'Blatts final CWS.

If that happens, I may have to be entirely irresponsible and take a weekend out of studying for the bar exam and go back to Omaha.

If they go out and play good baseball all season long, they will have "proved it". At least, that is by my definition of proving it.

The downtown Omaha ball park has left the front page news around here, but Mrs and I both think Rosenblatt's supposed to remain open through the 2010 CWS.
The Link
"The ballpark will have a capacity of 24,000 people, with the ability to expand to 35,000 spectators, and open in 2011." I know it's Wiki but it's the best I could find in a hurry.

Anyhow, my point is we'll have two more years to party here in Omaha's cathedral of college baseball. Let's git er done!

"You can do it. Real studying doesn't start till July. Remember, the goal is to pass by one point. Anything beyond that is wasted effort." Damn truth.

Enjoy a funfilled weekend in June. Now July is a bare knuckle fist fight.
