I usually post this thread during the dead of summer, but for obvious reasons had forgotten to do so.

OU Strong: QB, RB, OL, DL
OU Weak: LB, DB, K

I'll play:

OU strong: sucking, land thieving, cheating
OU weak: not sucking, bowl games, dental hygiene

OU strong: converting jeans to shorts, wearing sunglasses on forehead, frosted tips in hair, wearing shell necklaces
OU weak: discretionary spending in areas such as tanning and wrestling pay-per view events

Interesting that you list 2/3 of the OU defense as a weakness. I actually agree but haven't seen that sentiment from other posters during this offseason when they have been raving about the D's performance in the spring game.

I'll compare UT with OU:

QB - UT (but close)
RB - OU
WR - push
TE - OU
OL - OU
DL - UT
LB - UT
DB - push
K - push
special teams- Wild card, who knows, though UT does bring back Quan.

I really have it about even overall with a slight lead on the offensive side to OU and a slight lead on the defensive side to UT. There are alot of Q's on the Offensve for UT in terms of how the RB's will do, who will step up at WR, and how OL will gel. So I ranked them low today but that may change.

WR will depend on who develops first between Malcolm Williams and Adron Tennell. Or maybe I should say emerges instead of develops.

Ugh, I kind of agree with OUE about our DL vs their DL. But that's an assessment for now. When the season gets going let's see how things stack up.

Agree completely with OUE. On the DL, OU is loaded. We've got a converted end playing tackle who hasn't ever played there before, another converted end backing him up, and very little depth. I love our ends, though, even though I haven't seen enough of Melton playing defense to make any sort of judgement. I don't see how you can give the edge to Colt over Bradford after last season either. At best, it's a push. Also, we have no experience whatsoever at safety. It's the biggest question on the team. One other big advantage for UT is kicker. Not sure about punter for either team.

OUE I probably should have given DL a push with still a slight lead on defense to UT. I think both secondary's are weaknesses at this point but I like UT's potential and athleticism much much more.

As far as UT's DL I list it as a strength, not a weakness. In comparing to OU yes I agree it should be a push. But it is not a unit I am worried about. DE is so deep this year that they were able to move basically 2 starters inside to DT. One in Houston will only play DT. The other is Lewis who will play DT and DE. Alexander is an experienced backup who will be UT's run stopper. So you basically have 4 guys right there at DT, not counting Wilcoxon and the 2 frosh coming in, 1 of whom is already listed on the depth chart and will play for sure.

DE has Orakpo, Acho who is going to blow you away, Melton, and Jones in the top 4. Lewis can start there if needed. Carter will play and add to depth as Acho did last year and Orakpo did his frosh season.

This unit has speed and strength and its strengths. It is not an undersized unit but will feature a quicker look that should help in getting more pressure in the backfield.

There are very few concerns for this UT fan on the DL front this year. Next year there will be more depth concerns. But this year you have basically 4 returning starters in Orakpo, Miller, Houston, Lewis, and you have 4 seniors in Orakpo, Miller, Lewis, and Melton.
