Entertaining!

In my book, this has been one of the most exciting seasons in a long time, though we have flirted with some in the past couple of years.

Four months down (almost) and two to go.

With our pitching there is no lead too safe. You know it's going to be a nailbiter, regardless of the score early.

With our offense, there is no deficit that can't be overcome. The Rangers are just as likely to win 11-10 as they are to lose 12-10. They have won 4 games even though giving up double-digit runs.

Here's to a strong finish and two more months of entertainment.

Nice 4-3 victory over the struggling Mariners tonight.

Your right Horn69 - the Rangers are very entertaining. They are also winning most series since that early season re-focus meeting. Despite the pitching woes & injuries of the starters and the bullpen or the errors - like 5 freakin' errors last night in the 11-10 win.... this team never quits... they find ways to win and thankfully they got good bats. Everyone contributes in some way big or small: one night it is Laird or Kinsler or Hamilton, then Bradley or Young or Davis or Vasquez or some combination of those. Closer CJ Wilson is making me eat my words about him earlier this season... 24 saves now!

What 5.5 games back in the wild card race and this team is hungry, they seem to have good chemistry and they are playing some pretty good baseball.... stay tuned long suffering stRangers fans!

You're right Woo-Woo. And after Angels swept the Sawx tonight, R's are only 4.5 out of Wild Card lead. They are a player heading into August...just hold off of those World Series tickets for now.

Hi, 69, WorsterMan,
Indeed this is entertaining. The baseball may not be absolutely pure - inconsistent pitching, too many errors - but the grit and determination come through every night. The lack of consistency would prevent a deep run into the playoffs, but just being in contention into September will be way beyond the reasonable expectation we had when the season started. Besides, it's not quite time for Longhorn football yet, and I'm one of the few who refuses to follow every item that is fed to us from Cowboy training camp - it's still baseball season!

Shadowdancer and I are going to the Rangers-Jays game tomorrow night. We haven't been since Opening Day, and I am really exicited about seeing this team in person again. They have a remarkable ability to come back after falling behind, and as was stated above, you never know where it's going to come from.

Offensively, this team is reminding me of the '98 Yankees. When one guy would go into a slump, someone else would pick it up, unlike the Rangers of old, who would all go into a slump together. But every bat is making contributions and it's showing in the standings -- I don't think ANY of us expected to be four games over .500 at this point in the season.

Now we just have to work on that pitching ...

Way beyond expectations for sure.

It dawned on me, HHD, that the Cowboys have been in camp for a week now (the Super Bowl bound Cowboys no less - but that's another story) and the Rangers are still holding their own in the public eye. Very, very unusual.

^69, I'm with you on that thought. I absolutely refuse to jump feet first into every little item that reporters send us from Oxnard. There will be plenty of time to follow the Cowboys when football season starts. This is still baseball season, and we have a young, exciting team that is trying to learn how to win and build for the near future. To me that's a bunch more newsworthy than the end-of-the-day Wade Phillips news conference where we hear a rehash of the day's practice in Oxnard.

Besides which - when football season starts, I'll be a bunch more interested in following the Longhorns!

certainly interesting tonight so far.

and being in houston, i don't really have to worry about too much cowboys info flooding my tv.

watching them walk byrd to get to murphy, it crossed my mind that it should be easy to steal...

and we're tied...

easy to steal home since the pitcher is lobbing the ball in and the catcher is jumping out to, in this case, the first base side of the plate.

Murphy again has the chance to be clutch. Despite Wilson's best efforts the Rangers are trying to mount another come back win in the 9th.

Texanne, you were treated to a game extrordinaire! I'm thinking Shadow Dancer will get frisky tonight.

They remind me of the Twins as they got bad towards the end of the 90s, and then quickly turned it around once Gardenhire was put in charge. The Rangers can have that kind of a surge if they get maybe 2 more pitchers and some depth.

A new homerism suggestion for Josh & Tom after the 1st inning: "Well, we aren't any further behind after the bottom of the 1st."

Musta' been some good Mojo from HHD, Horn69, Texanne, Rico and the rest of the Ranger zealots last night. I am out of town and didn't see the 8-4 victory over the Jays,,, but I like the results: Hello win column, win another series and stay in the hunt for a Wild Card!

they had 3 hits through 5 IP and all three were HRs including two 2-run jobs by Laird who entered the game with 4.

the way we are playing is not sustainable (IMO) but it certainly is fun and I think it's showing that if you play nine innings and improve your fundamental approach to the game you can enjoy some success.
