Sedrick Ellis, Lawrence Jackson, and Keith Rivers. i remeber Blalock, Studdard, and company tossing these guys all over the field. oh how times have changed...i miss the good ol days.

So Arky had 6? Talk about doing less with more. And don't give me that SEC crap. They got waxed in their bowl by a Big 12 team.

Can you guys not do the math? Arkansas had 11. They had 5 and then 6 which totals 11. It is right there for you to see.

Wonder how the schools will do in Phil Steele's draft day hangover?

According to Phil, Texas had the worst hangover last year after the 2007 draft.

This year, I'm thinking USC, LSU, and maybe Arkansas make the cut.

Arkansas looks like they'll have the biggest hangover by default. Not only do they lose six key players but they lose their coach and then turnaround and have a scumbag come in to replace him.

It seems to me that VT is cut a lot of slack for not bringing home a MNC or big bowl wins. They have a lot ot talent and get plenty of hype. Before we won it recently we could not shake the underachiever lable. VT never seems to have that problem, it seems to me.

Warning: Arkansas apologetics ahead.......

Arkansas having 6 drafted is not as odd as you may think. It is not uncommon for Arkansas to be among the top schools dipped into by the NFL draft. 6 in 2004, 5 in 2005, only 1 in 2006, 4 in 2007, and 6 in 2008. ( Most of the above numbers reflect top rounds, not the last rounds)

The problem lays, and always has, with Houston Nutt. Even SEC fans will tell you that Arkansas has the best facilities in a conference that is constantly in an arms race, never has a problem snagging great recruits, and has an entire state of support that lives and breathes Arkansas football.

Arkansas suffered under Nutt's coaching. The rest of the intangibles were there.

NFL talent isn't odd. What the coaching staff has done with it is. With all of it's facilities, fan support, and talent, Arkansas only averaged 8 wins a season over the past 10 years with 8 ho hum Bowl games.

Petrino strikes me as the scum of the earth but I can't help but think he will make better use of the talent available.
