2008 Coaches Hot Seat Predictions

No way is Pinkel that safe compared to Mack or most other coaches on that list. One good year isn't enough to get him to that spot. I'd put him pretty far down in the "safe for now" (meaning closer to the yellow zone).

I dunno about Brewster at Minnesota being that high, even though he did have a horrendous first year.

One more thing, I don't understand why Bellotti would be that close to the hot seat. As I recall, Oregon won 10 games just three short years ago, and was a Dennis Dixon injury away from possibly going to the National Championship game last year.

I obviously don't know how the Oregon football program works, so who am I to judge. But it seems a little strange for him to be that high....

Art Briles in the bottom tier of the hot seat rankings? Hmmm, seems like miller58 was involved in compiling the list.

They seem to have cause and effect slightly backwards in regards to SEC coaches. The SEC schools fire coaches all the time. Therefore, there are a ton of pretty new coaches at SEC schools. So according to this list almost all of them are "safe". I'm not buying it. Those schools fire coaches at the drop of the hat.

I don't think Mark Richt should be that safe. He's not going to get fired, but if the 'dawgs don't win big against a brutal schedule, there will be some grumbling in Athens.

Mike Gundy will get **** canned this year.

Their schedule is shaky, which means they'll win 7 games or somesuch. T-Bone isn't throwing that kind of money around for 7 wins.

Charlie Weiss should get **** canned but won't.

Weis should have been fired a while back. I think in major Division I football (i.e. money, facilities, fan base), it should not matter who you are or what you have accomplished in the past. If you win only 3 games, you're history.

I think I would be inclined to pull a Bob Knight and give my salary back if I were making $4.2 million a year and only won 3 games.

Two of the oddest recent firings were Sonny Lubick at CSU and Jeff Bower at S. Miss. Each had been the most successful coach in program history, Bower had been with the program as a star player and coach for 30 years, and Lubick had the stadium named after him. Each had turned down bigger jobs out of loyalty to the school. How much better do those programs expect to be?

I still think Mike Stoops at Arizona is the most likely to be gone after this year. U of A fans want blood after he's done nothing with pretty good talent for four years. Another case of "I happen to be an assistant coach on a good team so I must be ready for head coaching responsibilities."

I think Mike Sherman at 48 is a little optimistic. I know he's right on the green/yellow boarder, but anything less than 8 wins and the Ags will be calling for his head. A lot of tension from the AgAlums - at least in my town- for a first time head coach. Hell, half the Ags i know want his head on a pike already.

1. I think Washington will be better this year. They had the toughest schedule in the nation last year and were close in a lot of games. With their QB being a sophomore now, I expect improvement.

2. Iowa sucks. Even for the Big 10, they suck.

3. Saban on the hot seat? Who else would take the Bama job? Those guys fired a guy who won 10 games 2 years before.

4. I like Robinson, but $1,000,000 a year is a lot to pay for a .200 winning percentage. He'll be gone after this season unless they make a bowl.

5. I hope Mike Stoops gets fired. I also hope his crazy *** doesn't go back to OU.

6. We aren't going to help Mark Price get off the hot seat.

7. It amazes me how Ron Prince teams can totally own us, and then sleepwalk through the rest of the season.

8. Charlie Weis not being higher up this list is a god damned travesty.

9. Frank Fulmer is right on the edge of a gotsta go situation.
