2006 - Greg Oden (#2 Kevin Durant)
2007 - Andrea Bargnani (#2 Lamarcus Aldridge)
Greg Oden continues to look like a huge bust. He has only started 60 career games and his career scoring average is 9.4 points/game. Durant is leading the league in scoring, was a starter at the all-star game this year and is one of the faces of the NBA now.
Bargnani is 16th in the league in scoring this year. However he is still 2 spots behind Aldridge in that category. Aldridge is also 12th in the league in rebounds/game. Bargnani is a solid contributor and certainly isn't a bust. However you can easily argue that Aldridge has outperformed him so far career to date. Portland is a playoff team right now and Aldridge is becoming a real force on the court.
Drafting isn't a science and it is always a tough decision when a team picks #1. Looking back if the teams had known how Durant and Aldridge would perform once drafted I think they would have taken those 2 guys #1 overall 2 years in a row.
