2 seed in the South

I would assume we have locked up a 2 seed at this point. Do we need to win tomorrow to lock down the South #2? Or are we in the running for a #1?

I think that if we face Kansas tomorrow and win, we would have to be in consideration for a 1 seed. We'd have to wait and see how the other top rank teams pan out.

I think the 1 seeds are already set. We'll get a 2 either in the south or west. I think I'd rather play UCLA again than Memphis.

The committee chairman was intentionally evasive between Big Ten games on CBS.

Have they picked all the at-larges? "We're close."
Have they picked all the No. 1s? "We're close."

Duke losing to Clemson (which I doubt happening) would be good for us. That would most likely push them to a #2 in the west. I think that would assist us in staying in the South based on the other potential #2's left after Duke.

I still think it would be a giant ripoff for the winner of a UT/KU Big 12 final not to get a #1 seed. Champion of a top 2 or top 3 conference, lots of bigtime wins -- justify otherwise. Ridiculous.

My above scenario appears to be possible now. Duke was in the South at #2 on many brackets. This potential loss would at least move them out of our way for that spot.

In regards to getting a #1 vs #2 seed...no big deal...I'd much rather be closer to home at the #2.

Duke losing definitely is good for us. They are down by 7 and there was a foul against them with around 3 minutes left.

HOOKEM!

Duke just got beat, locking up the South for us... I agree that if Tenn or UCLA loses, we get the #1 with a win tomorrow.

i dont know how some of you see this, but i see #1 in West as a negative compared to #2 in South(Houston). Our goal should be to get into the Houston bracket. that is better for us.

I am not saying we should lose any game on purpose at all. I am saying, if there was a choice, i and i would hope most UT fans, would chose to be #2 in Houston over #1 in any other bracket.
Normally, yes, it is to get the highest seed possible, but this year b/c it is in our backyard it is more important to be in the Houston bracket.

Not only should the UT/KU winner be in the mix for a #1 seed but they should be a #1 seed, it is the best conf in the nation.

Playing in Houston would be nice. Being a #1 seed would be nice. It's tough to say which would be an easier road to the Final 4 and beyond. I'm not advocating that we turn down a (deserved) #1 seed, and I'm not going to be happy if we are an arguable top 4 team yet don't get that #1 seed.

Our resume against the elite is FAR AND AWAY better than any other team's. This is inarguable. Disregarding head-to-head with the very teams we are "competing" with for a #1 seed is beyond stupid.

In case it's not obvious, I don't give a **** about the Houston regional.

It's possible that we could end up in the South regardless of what happens. If KU wins, they will probably jump to a 1 seed, which then moves Texas into the South as a 2 seed. If Texas wins, the committee could be inclined to put us in the South as a 1 seed and ship Memphis to Detroit.

Here's what I think everyone is forgetting. Yeah, I'd love for us to get a #1 seed, and our wins stack up against anyone. However, everyone seems to have forgotten that we have 5 losses .

Our main competition for the #1 seed appears to be Tennessee and maybe UCLA (although I think they've got that nailed afer today)

We have 5 losses. Tennessee has 4. We have two bad losses to non-tournament teams. Tennessee has only lost to tournament teams. Although we have a few more quality wins, Tennessee I believe came away with the top strength of schedule in the country.

Now, all that being said, if we beat Kansas tomorrow I think we have the advantage. But if for some reason Tennessee ends up with the #1 seed instead of us, it'll because of losses are far worse than theirs, not because their wins are better.

Again, I think we have the better argument if we beat KU, but you can't say Tennessee has no arguement.

While a #2 seed in the South would be for home court advantage, I'd much rather face a #4 seed in the 3rd round than a #3 seed.

Likely #3s: Stanford, Wisconsin, Louisville, Xavier
Likely #4s: Butler, Drake, UConn, Notre Dame

I'll take those #4s in Detroit anyday over the #3s in Houston.

Agreed tchalla, but I don't think tomorrow matters for us. I think they will have it all wrapped up before tomorrow's game ends. It's just a matter of where they have us slotted. Either in the last 1 seed or the Houston 2 seed.

It's just a real shame our conference has waited this long to wake up and realize we need to have our conference final on Saturday instead of Sunday.
