The GF and I are taking our first trip to Mexico, going to Puerto Vallarta. 29 June thru 3 July. Staying at the Marriott Manga Resort. Anyone stayed there before? Thoughts?

We like snorkling and just hanging out by the pool too. Anyone have a few good spots to have some drinks, good food, local fare. Fun and interesting places to visit. If you've got any ideas let me know.

**La Bodeguita del Medio on the Malecon (Oceanfront tourist area downtown). They have VERY good Mojitos made from Havana Club Blanco. Sit upstairsfor some good people watching.

**Barro Burros on Playa de los Muertos (Southside beach). It is a huge palapa on the beach where you just drink and stick your feet in the sand.

**Chico's Dive Shop on the Malecon will take you to Los Arcos for snorkeling. The Link
I recommend getting there early and getting some Desayunos (Breakfast) across the street and to the north a little on the beach side at the little food joint there (can't remember the name).

**There is a Taco place a couple blocks up Aldama off the Malecon. I cannot remember the name of it either, but you can't miss it. It is on the corner and is a larger place. It is on the Northwest corner of either Morelos or Juarez, I believe.

**Casa del Tequila. This place f-ing rules for such a quiet joint. It is on Juarez between Aldama and Corona on the beach side of the street. Every tequila they serve is available in their gift shop and it is all stuff you've likely never heard of before. You can drop $300 on a bottle of tequila there, but they have normal priced stuff as well. I highly recommend getting a shot of Kalore. It is more of an apperitif tequila flovored with coffee.

There is so much more than what I have described, but it's hard to go wrong in PV

Oh, and avoid the good-looking people wearing the polo shirts and khaki shorts. They're time-share salesmen and they are f-ing vultures. They will act like they know you or "recognize you from the other night" and even speak perfect English and use vernacular that you're used to here in the states. Don't be roped in by these people as they will take up a LOT of your time. Just ignore them and keep moving. They will hit you up the minute you get off the plane and everywhere you go in town. It actually was the worst part of my trip there when I went a couple years ago.
