I was surprised to see Michael Ungar’s name on the 2021 list of passed Longhorns. After some googling, it appears that his wife, not him, passed away in September.

Thanks for bring this to my attention. The story on the site is about Patricia but I put Michael's name in the headline as the reference to who her husband. Clearly wrong to do so I have corrected . Support the Ungar Family, organized by Eugene Shim

Thanks for sharing this Billy. I am a long time close follower of the Horns. I vaguely remember Vacura but he got off my radar long ago..... very sad.

Followed you and the Horns very closely every game fall 1971..

In HS, our JV in 1969 went 9-1. I was a Sr. starter in 1971 and got injured game 6 and was out the rest of the season. Like the Horns we had a large # of Sr. starters injured and sadly struggled to finish 5 - 5.

Me and my team closely identified with the Horns fall 1971 injury bug.

Thanks for responding- you vaguely remember Rick because he never played. Professor Carlson says, "Nobody could foresee the torrent of injuries that rained down that spring on the Horns. Arnold, now retired near Canyon Lake after practicing law for many years in his hometown of Liberty, recalled this month that perhaps ten-plus players, himself included, sustained spring football injuries that required surgery. But one player, the standout LB/FB Vacura, a Minnesota product, had sustained such a debilitating knee injury that his gridiron days were, tragically, over before they had begun."
