19 - 3 vs. 19 - 3

Before the Tech game last night, Texas stood at 19 - 3.

Last year, Texas stood at 19 - 3. The 2009 team, starting out 17 - 0, took to the road and lost to a then #10 ranked K - State team. That was followed with a 14 point loss at UConn, a middling win over Tech, and then a loss, at home, to Baylor. The wheels were flying off and Texas would go on to lose 2 of the next 3 games. We know how the season ended.

This year... Texas stood at 19 - 3. Wins over aggy twice... KU on the road, for the first time ever and over Okie Lite. The defense this Texas team plays is suffocating, in your shorts, man to man, unselfish play on the offensive side and all appearances indicate this team is improving every game. 8 - 0 in conference for the first time ever.. all wins by double digits.

I like this team... its scrappiness. They showed heart in Kansas.. and Meatchicken State.. in NY against Illinois and PItt.

Sometimes.. 19 - 3 means a lot more than.. 19 - 3.

there's definitely something special about this team;in year's past we've had teams with a lottery superstar and a bunch of other guys, but this time around on any given night you can have 1 of 5-6 guys take over a game. they play with much more cohesiveness and believe in each other unlike some of the teams we've had in the past. i see great things for this team.

Awesome post, it's a nice way to look at things. I've chatted with some buddies of mine that are involved in the world of collegiate basketball and they've all pretty consistently told me that the most impressive thing about this UT team is that they keep getting better and that's what you look for in championship caliber teams.
