And yet Perry wants to kill everything about our University that makes us great.

I just got this email today from the Texas Exes and President Bill Powers- as I'm sure many of us did.

I'm just glad we put in the State Lottery so that we could make sure education funding was no longer an issue.

All we had to do was vote the bastard out. Instead, foolish conservatives voted him another four years as king.
 
If anyone is aware of any type of organizing going on amongst Alumni, preferably of both state systems (yes, the Ags also) please post it here- in fact, start a new thread just for this reason and let everyone here know where we can go to help, or what we can do to fight this please.

I do not know how you counter a bunch of regents hand picked by Perry for their loyalty and stupidity- perhaps someone else has an idea.
 
I have a question: I had previously read the state was funding about 30% of UT's budget, but I read recently that in last year's UT budget the state funded only 14%. Is this correct? Is it really that low now?
Does anyone have the facts on this stat?

A lot will be decided shortly and it could get ugly. Perry isnt making any friends. UT technically could go private if it wanted to I guess from a financial standpoint. It's the richest school in the nation, its got a billion dollars in gold and billions worth of oil and land.
 
Wow, down to 13% of the total budget, and yet demanding to turn the school into a four-year trade school? UT isn't that far away from being a private school, is it?
