18 trips in last 20 years

I would never have believed it back in 1989, that we would have this sort of consistency over the next two decades. At the time, I believe we made our first tournament since 1979 and hadn't won a game since 1972. How times have changed.

For comparison, the football team has only gone bowling 15 of the past 20 years.

Texas athletics are very impressive!

Not many schools are excellent in football, basketball, and baseball...the big three. well yeah baseball isn't a major sport but it's more popular than the minor sports and it's growing in popularity fast. and I know you guys take your UT baseball seriously as do many other programs including us Trojans although we suck in everything now except basketball. But only 2 years have we been decent...

good luck in the NCAA Tournament, hope you beat UCLA again if you get the chance.

Completely agree with how impossible this would have seemed back in the 80's. Not only the Tourney appearances, but also actually having McDonald's AAs come to Texas including two Naismith award winners. This type of stuff just wasn't on the radar scrren in the 80's.

I think if we can keep this up we might be able to win the NCAA tourney eventually. Hopefully in the next 10 years or so. We just need the perfect mix of players and get them to stay around until their jr/sr years. Maybe this year is the year, who knows...

Go Horns!!!

Agreed. My second year at UT, I was on Guadalupe getting pushed around by Austin's finest after making the Great Eight, I think we beat Georgia Tech that year (too lazy to look it up). I was not a student when Barnes and Mack, the REAL Mack that is, arrived but I certainly envy those that got to experience the last 10 years on campus.

It takes a hell of an effort to get a 'football school' respect in basketball but some how Barnes and company have done it in pretty short order.
