13 year-old Commits to USC

Kiffin won't be around USC long enough to ever coach that kid. Any football coach who'd encourage a commitment from a 13 year old has no business running a major college program. It looks like Kiffin jilting Tennessee was addition by subtraction for the Vols, no matter the short term recruit losses. Kiffin's gonna finish the job of turning USC into a cesspool.

That should be simply be unacceptable. I'm mean seriously?!?!?!

i think i remember that when cj leak originally committed to wake forest, that his brother, chris, commited as well. his brother was in 8/9th grade at the time.

this is a stunt by kiffen.

Maybe Kiffin knows they won't be off probation until then and their visits will be limited. He has to get a class now.

Is there not any kind of limitation on how early you can offer scholarships in football?

I am pretty sure that there are restrictions on coaches calling or meeting with prospects and their parents. I think coaches cannot call or meet with a prospect or their parents off campus until after their junior year. I think there is an exception for 1 telephone call during the spring evaluation period of their junior year. I believe if a coach calls this kid's father it would be a violation, but it would not have been a violation if the kid's father called the coach. Can anyone confirm this?

It just doesn't seem right to be able to offer a college scholarship to a kid in middle school or to even be talking to them about it.

Kudos to the kid, though...

The only thing I was committed to when I was 13 was finding out whether this "*****" everybody was talking about was real.

Do you think that we can start working on Colt for a committment from his first born son?

Better hurry Mack or Will before all the big names are committed.

I dont have a problem with this. Its just a verbal and the kid and his parents can do anything they want. All the risk is on Kiffin's side. How many of us have stories of middle school classmates who dominated when they were 13 only to have everyone catch up to them in HS. He'd better honor that verbal if that happens.

I'll never forget a guy on my MS team that was 6'1 230 and literally made a TD every time he touched the ball. NO ONE in the league had the physical ability to tackle him. It reminded me of the "how many 5 year olds could you fight" game on the internet. We were in a 3A league in Eastern washington but both the seattle and spokane media markets were doing stories on this kid. When I moved to texas for HS I lost track of all of my old mates, but at UT I kept a constant eye on other college rosters fully expecting to see the kids name, kicking *** for FSU, Notre dame or somebody. Nothing. Shortly after graduation,Out of the blue, one of my old buddies looked me up and called to catch up. It didnt take me long to ask about the "kid". My buddy told me everybody caught up to him in HS and he didnt even start his JR and SR years.
