I have been viewing Matthews as a long shot. Does this make for longer
odds? I know Espinosa projects inside, but our overall OL numbers seem
high, in relation to other positions of need.
I'm hearing we will take 3 OL. Matthews has an offer and is still top priority. Another guy that I've heard we like if Matthews doesn't work out is Evan Washington.
I think you take as many OL as you think are quality enough. You can never have too many good OL. It also seems like Mack is not red shirting as many OL as in the past. They used to redshirt all freshman OL, unless they were really special.
Mack is putting together a great class, the offer lists on some of these guys says a lot. I think we take 3 OLs, and we have 2 great ones thus far. I think Dominic made a great choice, will get great coaching, and a great education.
If Mack closes 2-3 more this weekend and we have 17 guys in the fold, he can put the full court press on those left, and also get into the ear of the 2011 guys, while the rest of the country starts filling their 2010 class.
Mack is always ahead of the curve, and for that, I thank him.
This is great news. I agree that, if there's one area you'd like to have an excess of talent, it'd have to be OL, along with DL.
It's the most unpredictable position, as far as knowing how kids will develop & perform at the D-1A level, compared with HS. Trey Allen was all-world at SGP two years ago, and he's only seen spot duty. Chris Hall was considered a good, but not great, OL recruit at Irving but he has developed into one of the top four or five centers in the nation.
The Link It is now confirmed on the commit list. Select 2010 in the drop down. I like this pickup a lot. He looks like a Mack Brown kind of kid, very smart as well. Kinda reminds me of Huey. He had offers to Stanford, Tennessee, LSU, A&M, Mizzou, Baylor, Houston, SMU, and of course aggy.
The folks over at Texag is very upset on this. He was one they really wanted. They think, as we know, that Mack Brown is at it again.....putting together a great class and leaving them in the dust.
Would love to see us pick up his HS teammate, Holmes Onwukaife as well. Saw him last year and he was a force on defense. He stood out more than Okafor did, in the games I saw, but I believe Alex was double teamed more. Got to love his #'s on the LSR 2010:
as far as the aggy talk, i think we should lay off it. i mean we lost Jamarkus McFarland to OU (which was good for us i think) when we really really wanted him as well.
dont get me wrong, im glad he decided to come to us rather than go to them but theres no reason we should rub it in their face. any recruit can change their mind no matter how solid they are.
lets appreciate this kid and listen to accounts of his abilities rather than rubbing it in the aggy faces.

Let’s don’t, and say we did. As Philbert Desinex (Texas Ranger, circa 1962) used to say, “aggies is pigs”
Man Texas is just taking all of the guys kids that A&M would love to have and be able to pull in. This is not looking good for them.
We have a ton of OL on campus but we need to have more OG's. Most of the guys that have been taken lately are OT's. Espinosa and Hopkins are interior lineman size and that was the need. Plus I believe they are the top 2 interior lineman in the stat on the offensive side of the ball.
