12 Years on

It's been 12 years since Michael Johnson destroyed the record in the 200m in Atlanta. One of the most amazing moments I've seen in sports.

His record might stand for my entire lifetime.

As the sport becomes 'cleaner', I imagine many records may not be broken for a good while. It'll take a while for training, tracks, and equipment make up for the effects of performance enhancing drugs.

I'm not implying that this particular record was steroid related, but many others have been given the high level of steroid use in the last couple decades...

Ben Johnson's 9.83 in Seoul was AWESOME!

He exploded out of the blocks like there was a spring on his blocks and beat everyone by about 4 meters.

He was coked to the gills on 'roids and he eyes were more yellow than a field of sunflowers in France in July, but he beat the living **** out of everyone in that final and he ran faster than any human had ever been recorded up to that time.
