100 greatest classical music works

Not enough Germans. I thought Winterreise by Schubert should be higher, especially since you put Monteverde so high. What was that about?

Glad to see Smetana in there and agree with your #1 but think you should put the 7th in with it, like you did with some of the MOzart and Chopin. The second movement of the 7th is as good as there is.

And did I just miss it or did you leave Satie out? Gymnopedie belongs on the list.

And why no Tennessee Ernie?

I ranked the really short works lower. Hard to put them up against entire symphonies or sets of pieces. Some famous short ones that didn't make the list include:

Pachelbel, Canon
Bach, Air on a g string
Schubert, Ave Maria
Satie, Gymnopdie
Beethoven, Fur Elise
Albinoni, Adagio

Hindemith, Symphonic Metamorphosis (especially the March)
Rossini, William Tell Overture

Eine Kleine Nachtmusic at 53??? wrong!

I still think Marriage of Figaro is the best thing I've ever heard. Even if it is too long!

On a side note, Wagner looks exactly like you'd expect him to look from his music.
