We have some uhh, mature fans on this board so perhaps someone may remember the cause of death. It escaped my view as I was living out of state at that time....

In other words, the standard of Fred's and Leon's defense's of that era. If you put those defensive teams with Mack's offense's of the 2000's, Texas would have scored 80 points a game because they would have had 18 possessions a game. Many of our opponets would never have crossed mid-field. OU in 1979 comes to mind as does Baylor getting 2 first downs in Austin that same year. You youngsters can't imagine what those teams were like. Yes the game has changed. But tackling and pancake blocking a guy have not.

This guy was one of the best ever.

Hmmmm my old memory is struggling for the year.

I'm thinking 1976... ou got most of its yards and first downs on the last drive for TD to tie it up 6-6.

If right what do I win?

I'm not sure of the question, but I am sure of 79. OU had that million dollar backfield led by Thomas "Do-rag" Lott.

76 may have been the hardest hitting game I've ever seen.

1979 ou game would be my second guess to your statement, not question.... And yes, as I've stated before and agree with you, 1976 UT vs ou was and still is THE hardest hitting game I've ever seen.
