THe wife and I are in the process of planning a trip to the UK for 10-14 days and are looking for suggestions as to things to do. We plan on makng the trip in the early part of November.

I am a soccer nut so we are looking into EPL and Champions League games, but are open to other suggestions.

It's always tough to answer these, because people's ideas of a vacation can differ greatly. It is doubly tough when you're traveling offseason (I've only been to UK in the summer).

Some ideas (not necessarily for the same trip):

Greenwich has some interesting museums, etc and is a short trip down the river from London.

There are other places that are easy daytrips from London such as Blenheim and Windsor.

Take the train to Newcastle, see a game. Then visit Hadrian's wall on the way to Edinburgh. The wall is really worth seeing and there are a lot more interesting things to see in the borders region- abbeys, castles, scenery.

I've really enjoyed visiting the Hebrides, the Orkneys, and the Shetlands. They are filled with great scenery and great archeological sites, but they might be better to visit in summer rather than November.

ping me if you want specific suggestions once you nail down your schedule. I spend a lot of time in the UK for Dell.

I live in Scotland so let me know if you need any suggestions on the Highlands, West Coast, etc.

One thing I can promise is that you will have short days and **** weather in November.

And April, May, June, July, August (well at least this year!).
