Or I should say lack thereof, which tells me he's having a tough time with his decision!

This is what I've read from Hookem.com... (or tidbit from their reports.) Cottrell's mom came with him to Austin. We know his GF will be going to Texas on a soccer scholarship. He 'reportedly' sent a text message to an Oregon recruiting publication saying he's still committed to Oregon... BUT it's all been silence since then. The Cottrell family are playing this close to the vest. I think if he was still SOLID to the Ducks, he'd already come out to say that! I'd say the longer this plays out, the better for Texas. His family is Pro Texas. More to come...

1/30 Update
The best way to put the situation with Bryce Cottrell is that he's "conflicted" with his decision! The Texas staff sent him home with a University of Texas LOI and of course, he has one from Oregon... Of the 3 recruits that visited last weekend, Cottrell was the least likely to change his commitment. But all that appears to have changed... obviously the Longhorns gave him a lot to think about. While he grew up a Longhorn fan & his girlfriend has signed a soccer (goalie) scholarship to Texas, it will be a tough decision to back out on his long standing commitment to Oregon who started recruiting him from day one... more to come!

I'm actually thinking if he doesn't pull the trigger for us real soon, then he's a Duck.

Hope you're right and I'm wrong, but I will respect the guy for not following young love
and going to where he feels is the best fit for him.

It's a good thing 18 year olds are single and don't have wives- that would make recruiting a whole other mess.

It's being reported that he is "thinking things over" and will make an announcement in the next day or two! It does sound like he has a lot to think about...

If he was out, he'd have reaffirmed to Oregon. But, he's seriously giving Texas a hard look. I agree with other posters - the more time that goes by, the more that benefits Texas.

Hmmm...what to think about??? Go to UT, hang with the girlfriend, get to live in Austin, get to play in a Manny Diaz defense, moms and dads get to come down for the games...

Go to Oregon, live in Eugene (?), play for a team that barely plays defense, and maybe, moms and dads get to come up and see me once or twice in four years...and then, there's the whole girlfriend thing...

Yep, there's lots to think about.

No inside info here, but I just have a hunch come Wednesday, he'll be faxing to Austin rather than Eugene.

I think he really wants to go to Oregon. Like others have said, what is there to think about. Santos was quick to switch. What defensive player goes to Tennessee after you get an offer to play on Manny's D here in Austin. Edwards situation I could see.

So, why would an elite def end from TEXAS choose Oreg over a Diaz molded Horn defense.....plus girlfriend issue....other than to honor a commitment...

Terrific news on the commit, thanks

Mack should have the girlfriend over to DKR to see if she can kick a football into the endzone.
