Because they became convinced he was an immature baby who would fold under pressure.

The Link

Found this audio link on a Sooner message board, where they are oddly bragging about it.

Not according to Hoge, SoonerMan. He implies that VY was probably headed to 0U - until Stupes met him and decided he was too soft and didn't have what it took to succeed in Norman.

The REALLY funny thing is that Hoge made it sound like he was complimenting the Sooners, but after hearing that, I almost feel like we owe you something.

I have never seen anybody overcome adversity and heal from injuries as quickly as VY.
And single handedly will your team to a national championship.
Anybody that knows VYs story, where he comes from and what he overcame to be a starting NFL QB, will call ******** on this.
Hoge has always dumped on Vince and going this overboard to slam Vince when he is down just shows what scum Hoge is.

I translate the "immature and will fold under pressure" to mean they were afraid VY would reveal the new car he would receive from Big Red Sports and Imports when asked about it.

Thanks Stanhin, the lack of respect given the rest of that 05 teams makes me sick. I think the defense was the best in the Big 12 that year, amazing considering VY didn't even play on defense.

i always remembered it as being that texas was the only place that recruited him as qb???

Didn't say that team wasn't talented or loaded with NFL talent.

You are Texas. You are normally talented and loaded with NFL talent.

That just hasn't translated into a bunch of hardware over the last 40 years.

The 2005 offense was basically "letting Vince being be Vince". That was Vince using his athletic abilty to make up an offense on the fly. He couldn't play within the system before that and apparently he can't now.

If you did not have Vince in the NC game that night it would have loked similar to OU the year before. All that talent on defense got chewed up by USC most of night.
