Tarleton State @ Texas 11/20/2024

Here we go again. Didn't get to see Moore's 3 because they were showing a replay. And this announcer dude doesn't know the difference between a foul and OOB.

Gosh, after coming out like gangbusters in the first period, things really fell off. Perhaps everyone let off the gas (except Booker) after a dynamic first period. The second squad looked poor this game, and there really wasn't anything to crow about after the half. I know a win's a win, but the subs didn't have many shining moments IMO.

Broadcast was so horrible on so many levels I can't name them all, but why do they keep putting up the camera from the top corner of the stadium and make us watch a bunch of ants running around?

Texas got a raw deal when they had to give up the Longhorn Network. SEC and Sec+ have been quite poor replacements but ESPN is gonna make sure they are in control. And, I agree, the male announcer today left a lot to be desired. I think the female announcer was Kathy Hairston who was once (and may still be) on the Longhorn radio broadcast team. I do miss Andrea Lloyd.

I was bothered by the average rebounding effort, to the point where Tarleton came close to matching our numbers. There didn't seem to be the intensity for rebounding I've seen in the first few games.

On the other hand, I was stunned that we had made 13 free throws in a row before first miss. With a final of 20/23! I wonder if that's a record for FT's in double-digit for Vic's team?

The smothering defense was outstanding. Our ball handling, on the other hand......meh.

I was happy we won big, but I thought we looked very sluggish against the zone. The 3 point shooting left a lot to be desired. This is where Chavez could help us a lot.

Agreed! We looked really sharp in the beginning, then seemed to lose intensity after the result of the game had been decided in the first eight minutes. The remainder of the game was difficult to watch... very lackluster and boring.

No. I haven't seen where her fitness level will allow her to play starters minutes against more worthy opponents, but she is a heck of a strong force off the bench.
Agreed, and I think that's why we may be seeing so much of her. Vic's grooming her and trying to get her in game shape. Taylor Jones is so skilled, but with her history of nagging injuries, you've got to have someone else prepared. Abby is in year two of wearing a boot. I don't mean to be negative, but if that foot hasn't healed by now it's not going to. Not to the point of being able to run up and down the basketball court at the pace of a Top 10 team anyway.

And another year before that in high school. I totally agree with you. When Taylor leaves the team, there will be an immediate need for a player to spell Oldacre. I hope a replacement is a top priority for Vic.
