This is where things like HOAs are helpful. My neighborhood outlawed short term rentals. That doesn't help new neighborhoods but local governments can help with that.

 

An apartment complex, or a development of rental townhomes, are often built by a single owner with the purpose of renting them all. The difference here is a little space between the neighbors' walls.

It's creating more housing stock. That's really needed.

 

So you know there is a free market solution to this. You don't have to enact new laws that interfere with property rights.

What you have to do is cut off the new money creation and funneling to banks. Money supply inflation is the source of all this mischief. It reduces purchasing power of money which causes everyone to chase yields everywhere they can.

Just think this is a new issue. Why? Because the Fed and DOT monetary policy is actively consuming the wealth of our country. So now investment companies are trying to do things they never have before to make a buck. They tried subprime loans and that busted big time in 2008. But the real estate market is viewed as stable so they are trying another crack at it.

But the money they are using isn't coming from investors. It is coming from new government spending which can only happen if the Fed inflates the money supply.

Hardly news since that family turned their back and didn't their honor promises to their friends in the past.

 

I give them empathy. They've been through so many awful things as a family. An interesting bunch of characters indeed.

Joe - bootlegger, gangster, politician, power-broker, and Nazi sympathizer, into some really shady things, but he was a winner, and very, very rich.

JFK - good leader, charismatic, not too proud to seek advice (esp. from Eisenhower); last conservative Democrat President.

RFK - one of the smartest American liberals in the 20th Century, but he supposedly double-crossed some folks you don't want to double-cross...

Ted - dumb as a box of rocks, drunk, and he couldn't keep his wiener in his pants and out of girls 40+ years younger than him. Supposedly a good mariner and sailor of wind-powered vessels though.

JFK Jr. - tragic; the airport shouldn't have let him take off in that weather with that cast on his leg.

RFK Jr. - a bit kooky and full of conspiracies; would be right at home posting on this very board; has a little Trump in him

 

If that's true, the flight crew should be jailed.

 

If Rishi Sunak had any balls (Hint - he doesn't.), he'd do a few things. First, he'd have the UK government sue Air France for breaching their contracts with the UK government and encourage the girl and her family to sue them as well. Second, he'd tell Air France that if those employees aren't shitcanned, the airline will lose its contract.

I have mixed feelings on all that.

Joe Kennedy was part of the political rise of the Irish-Americans, who displaced the New England Puritans/Boston Brahmin types as the dominant force in New England.

I much prefer the NY and NE Irish over the Boston Brahmins/New England Puritans. It's not even close. I've known plenty of the former, and a handful of the latter. Some of the Irish are counted among my long-term friends and very close friends. On the other hand, it's painful to just be around many of the old-line Yankee Puritan types.

You and I may vary in background, I don't know. But for my background (and I'll use "us" and "we" here referring to me, not everyone on these boards), it was those ******** who opposed us all the way back to the English Civil War, they nearly obstructed our founding of These United States with our Constitution which was written by us (Virginians Madison and Jefferson especially), they instigated the Civil War which could have been resolved amicably without the bloodiest war our country has ever fought (See Paul Carrington of Duke U's articles), century-after-century they have foisted their narrow-minded, dogmatic, unrealistically idealistic, and usually wrong, views on us. And they absolutely, positively, f@cking HATE Texas with every fiber in their being.

So f**k OFF TO NEW ENGLAND PURITANS/BOSTON BRAHMINS and three cheers to the New England (and other) Irish-Americans!!!

I don’t buy the Ted Cruz’s father shot JFK stuff. And while I’m loathe to latch on to any conspiracy, there’s probably something to the involvement of Woody Harrison’s dad. He was a government/contract assassin and was later jailed for assassinating a federal judge.

 

Chop: what is the source for the story that Bud H was a contractor for anybody? I’ve heard it but never a. Source. He was paid to kill Judge Wood by a couple of sleazy lawyers from El Paso but I dunno about the government connection
