Random Offseason News

Don't know and really don't care. All I do know is the cop in question was disciplined (again) by the department, and all of Scottie's charges were dropped. Because of what I do know, I'm not willing to assign a-hole status to Scottie over the incident.

EDIT: I think the guy in this video, whoever he may be, is freakin' hilarious.

Agreed-- I am a criminal defense attorney and can assure you they would not have dropped the case if there was a shred of evidence. The clip where the DA and 2 ADA showed up to oppose a simply scheduling request for the first appearance date will showcase this attitude.( an administrative issue that often would have been agreed by phone). Also, there was a tape of Scotty just after being arrested walking to police cruiser--his comments and body demeanor were of shock and surprise rather than someone who had an 'attitude'. it all points to overreaction by the officer.

Scotty threatened to sue the police dept. I think that had a lot to do with charges being dropped. Also with mistakes that were made. But scotty still my fav.

Scottie had several vids and other evidence that is said to prove his innocence. Didn't Scottie say they decided not to sue since charges were dropped . Not a big threat

I am a big Scottie S. Fan. I root for him everytime he is out there. But i am prone to think that he was an a-hole driving with a cop hanging on to the car in disobedience. Am i the only one that feels this way?
Go back and look at the story. It sounds like the cop "embellished" his participation.

Not to belabor the point BUT how do you drive on with a COP hanging on the door.
I would fear him falling and his leg getting caught under the tire. It doesnt matter what the cops attitude was, if he was belligerent, u dont drive on with him hanging on the door.
But i wasnt there of course.

UT clearly has the DEEP pockets, juice, program and ACADEMIC mojo to offer this kind of "pitch".

However, I'm old school.

It disgusts me NIL has brought us to mostly $$$ flash for recruits!! Not to mention the Portal.

Not an offer to play college football at a Tier 1 program at a Public Ivy University. A paid for 4 year full scholarship with an opportunity for a degree in case you don't play pro ball.... like olden days.

We are losing college football.

Sad, but true, WM. Between NIL and the portal, college football has become a junior version of the NFL - but with the portal, college players have nearly unlimited free agency. Sooner or later (and I hope it's sooner), the powers-that-be are going to have to put some realistic limits on the portal.

Would it make sense to have farm systems so that players can move between a subset of schools, such as Texas, Nevada, etc. Schools can pair up as needed. In short unlimited moves within the farm system but 2 year delay outside of farm system if going to another major school and 1 year delay to a lower tier school.

Interesting. I suppose we could make aggy like our low single a affiliate, then move the decent ones up to Texas State, UNT, or Blinn.

mc,

We had a variation of that in baseball back in the 60s and maybe early 70s. The Yankees used Blinn and Sam Houston as farm teams. Give the parents cash, stash the players at one of those schools and move them to the pro side as needed.
