Haven’t won a series opener in 6 weeks (last one was March 8th against Tech). That’s kind of a puzzling stat…

Hell-We have no starting pitching, that's the startling stat, losing friday night games isn't so puzzling when you concede the previous point, it's just a product of no pitching.

I'm just wondering how long Ace holds up, he doesn't have an overpowering fast ball, he's been fortunate we haven't faced any team with a real batting order. He's not a true starting pitcher, he just so happens to be the only one on our staff that throws strikes consistently.

Grubbs pitched well enough to win last night but like some of us have mentioned before, it's imperative that they can go longer, 7-8 innings. Im currently only asking for 5 out of our starters, we rarely even get that and even that's atrocious.

Not trying to be a negative nellie, but if we score zero we won't win. Heck, if we don't score at least 4 or 5 runs we won't win. For the past couple weeks our bats have been not great except for the occasional 6 or 8 run inning which has saved us in a couple games. It's really bizarre how schizophrenic our offense has been. Nothing then an 8 run inning.

I'm not sure I follow your math there...

It's also puzzling because it's not as if we have a whole bunch of homeruns and a lousy team batting average. Rather, we have a whole bunch of homeruns, and a good team batting average--currently just under 0.300.

Are most of out bats only good against mediocre and worse pitching? Is that our problem? Can we start knocking the crap out of opponents' Friday night pitchers, please?

Perhaps that is too much to ask.

But don't worry folks. Today we rally in between the rainstorms and even up the series against the mighty Frogs--a team many predicted to win the Conference.

More puzzling are the teams we lost to on Friday.

    Washington (12-18-1, lost the series)
    Baylor (18-18)
Kansas State (this one is more digestible 23-14)
    BYU (15-20, lost the series)
Houston (19-19, 9th inning miracle in game 3 to win the series)
TCU (23-13, probably the second easiest to take)

I mean, we've been losing to pretty bad teams.

Our schedule is weak af, that's why. I don't see the Big XII getting past the regionals, nobody. Before the season started, I didn't see this conference sucking this bad this year.

Because I have a masochistic streak, I added up the scores. Over the last six series openers, Texas has lost by a combined score of 18-48. That's kinda shocking.

Belyeu is in LF today as well. Pierce feeling the heat? It's pretty critical to win this series.

What do you know???!!! Pierce moved Kennedy to the bottom of the lineup!! sure is funny when you start feeling the heat to make the appropriate changes!! This lineup is our best chance to win, i couldn't argue with today's lineup.

Just boggles my mind though, it's like he wants to handicap his team the way he makes out his lineup.

Dang, Powell laying down those bunts every time they shift and I don't blame him. do it again.

I hate that, i bet that shift pisses Powell off. I bet he doesn't miss that bunt next round.

Ace is throwing a lot of pitches, already at 37 pitches after 2. Not a good pace. Pop up, foul territory 1st base side. end of the TCU half of the 2nd. 0-0 score.

I was going to come down for the spring game but the weather kept me away. Anyone want to provide their view point in between innings?
